Sara's reading log

I am a book hoarder and reader. My main genre is SF, but I also love magic realism, fantasy and general fiction. Favorite authors are Iain M. Banks, Ursula K. LeGuin, Haruki Murakami, José Saramago, Isaac Asimov, Ben Aaronovitch and more. My rating system is based on five stars. I rate books based on my expectations and what a books aims to be. This means that the brilliant 'Fahrenheit 451' gets five stars because I thought it would be good, people said it was good, and it was good, but 'A Closed and Common Orbit' also gets five stars because in its series, in its style, I really enjoyed it and was not disappointed.

The Alexandria Link by Steve Berry

  • Read in: English
  • Rating: ****-
  • Genre(s): Historical Adventure

As an in between read I read The Alexandria Link by Steve Berry. This is the second book in the Cotton Malone series. This time his son gets kidnapped and he and his ex-wife try to find out why. It all has to do with the Alexandria Link, a person who was invited to the Alexandrian Library, which apparently still exists in some form. Of course not everyone is just happy to have knowledge available that has been hidden for over 2000 years so there are governments and business clubs all trying to achieve some sort of goal by finding or hiding the library. The main theory has to do with the location of the promised land and what can be gained or lost by causing strife between the governments of Israel and the Arabian countries. Another fast past read with a relatively happy ending. Four stars.
